WOOD SPECIES: The grain, vein and coloration of any wood is dictated by the species used in it's manufacture. The most common types of woods in current use today are cherry, mahogany, walnut, ash, birch, beech, maple, alder, pine, oak, and rubber wood (hevea brasiliensis). Many of these are used as veneers in varying patterns of grain, marquetry, or burls to create increidbly beautiful and durable surfaces.
STAINS: All stained pieces of fine wood furniture sold at Model Interiors are worked by a multi-step (in some cases more than 15 passes) hand-rubbed staining process, and then finish coated with a protective lacquer. This technique creates a deep highly prized richness to the wood surface, and with reasonable care, will look like the day it was made for many years.
